ArchitectMade Gemini Candle Holder
Designer Peter Karpf has been exploring re-configurable design since he first emerged as a creative force in the 1960s. Shaped in polished stainless steel in the form of a half circle, the Gemini candle holder is deliberately shaped to encourage the user to explore different arrangements when used with other Geminis. The result is an open-ended and versatile design system that yields enormous visual variety with just a single module. The piece is also very beautiful when used alone, as the strong curve of the base creates a lovely visual path from one flame to the other.
Peter KarpfÕs work is represented at numerous museums worldwide, including New YorkÕs MoMa and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. In 2002 Karpf was awarded the Bruno Mathson Prize, the most prestigious design award in Scandinavia. The jury's comment was: "His strong sense of form in combination with a deep understanding of materials and manufacturing techniques make him one of the greatest contemporary Nordic designers".
The Gemini comes one to a package. Each holder is 4 1/4 inches wide by 4 1/2 high (11 x 11.5 cm).
Black or White Birgitta candles 1/2 inches diameter by 8 5/8 high (1.3 by 22 cm) in sets of four are available for purchase with your candle holder. The candles are 100% stearin, a natural by-product, and have a burning time of about three hours.
